We're thrilled to announce the launch of our much-awaited initiative, the 6th Annual Share the Warmth Give Away by School House Children's Charities (SHCC)! Since 2014, SHCC has been on a mission to bring warmth and comfort to children in need. Over the years, we've proudly distributed 3000 new coats and 5000 sets of hats, gloves, and scarves, ensuring that no child faces the winter chill without proper protection.Starting from October 15th, 2023, until March 31st, 2024, SHCC will be reaching out to elementary and middle schools across Northwest Indiana and the greater Chicago Metropolitan Area. Our dedicated team is all set to provide new coats, hats, gloves, and scarves, ensuring that every child can embrace the winter season with a smile.But we can't do it alone! We invite you to join hands with us in this heartwarming endeavor. Your support, whether through donations or volunteering, can make a significant difference in the lives of these children. Let's come together to spread the warmth, one coat at a time. Together, we can make this winter a little brighter for every child in our community. SHCC's Back to School Book Giveaway at the Hammond Boys and Girls Club

As summer winds down and the school year is upon us, the importance of literacy and the gift of a new book was given to a few hundred children in Hammond, Indiana. This year, the School House Children's Charity (SHCC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, teamed up with the Hammond Boys and Girls Club to host a remarkable Back to School Book Giveaway event. With the invaluable support of Dwayne Washington, the Club Director at the Hammond Boys and Girls Club, and the unwavering commitment of Mike Jessen, President and CEO of Boys and Girls Club of Greater Northwest Indiana, SHCC distributed 350 brand-new children's books to students and their families, setting the stage for an inspiring and successful school year.The Back to School Book Giveaway event, held at the Hammond Boys and Girls Club, was a testament to the power of community collaboration. SHCC understands that education is the foundation for a brighter future, and they are dedicated to ensuring that every child has access to the resources they need to thrive in school. The event not only supplied children with books but also fostered a sense of excitement and curiosity about learning.Dwayne Washington, the Club Director at the Hammond Boys and Girls Club, played a pivotal role in making this event a reality. His passion for supporting youth in the community is evident in his dedication to providing a safe and nurturing space for children to grow and learn. Dwayne's commitment to education aligns perfectly with SHCC's mission, and his enthusiastic involvement was instrumental in the event's success.Mike Jessen, the President and CEO of Boys and Girls Club of Greater Northwest Indiana, also deserves heartfelt gratitude for his leadership and continued support. The Boys and Girls Club has a long-standing tradition of empowering young people, and Mike's unwavering dedication to this cause is truly commendable. SHCC Announces New Partnership with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

Join us August 7th and 9th to sign up for free books!

School House Children's Charity is proud to announce our partnership with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.  Founded by legendary country music artist and cultural icon Dolly Parton in 1995, DPIL is an international organization that donates over 2 million free books every month to kids aged birth to 5 years old, regardless of their parents' income.   We are proud to join Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in their mission to make sure that all kids have access to high quality books to aid development and support creativity and imagination.  Starting this summer, SHCC will be working in local libraries and school districts to help kids and families register with DPIL.  Join us on August 7th and 9th at Nathan Hale Elementary School in Whiting, IN, where we'll be registering children 5-years and younger for the program from 1:00pm until 7:00pm     

Celebrating Mothers' Day with a Book Giveaway

SHCC Donates Books to the Students of Glen Park Academy

This year, in honor of Mothers' Day, SHCC was thrilled to host a special book giveaway in support of our program, For the Love of Reading!We coordinated with leadership at Glen Park Academy in Gary, Indiana to give away free books to students throughout the school day.  Our founder and Executive Director, Brian Andreshak, who is also a first-grade teacher at Glen Park Academy was on hand to personally distribute books to students, alongside a few of our dedicated volunteers.You can learn more about the Mothers' Day Giveaway by exploring the coverage provided by the Chicago Tribune and the Northwest Indiana Times.If you would like to be involved in organizing or volunteering at future book giveaways or other SHCC programs you can send us an email at brian@schoolhousecc.org or click the ‘Donate’ button on our homepage.
